The 2 upright supports have heavy duty C-clamps that adjust to fit on surfaces anywhere from 1" to 3" thick. You will need to use a shim if mounting on a surface under 1" thick. Setup is incredibly quick and easy; secure the uprights to a table and insert the poles on either end. The shorter pole is slightly smaller in diameter, allowing it to slide into the longer pole for the width you need. This item is very sturdy and the iron uprights and horizontal poles are 3/4" thick.
